What is it?
Ascension Day occurs forty days after the resurrection of the Lord Jesus, marking the event where He proclaimed His authority over all things in heaven and on earth and, afterward, was exalted to His throne at the right hand of God the Father. This is not just a day worth observing - but worth celebrating! We recognize that because Jesus reigns, we get to live and serve under a good and gracious King that rules with justice, might, and glory.

In the same way that we give reverence, honor, and praise to Jesus at celebrations like Christmas, where we observe the birth and coming of the Newborn King, and Easter, where we observe the resurrection of the sacrificed Lamb of God, we also ought to celebrate the ascension of the Son of Man to His throne of authority - and we plan to do just that.

Ascension Day Kansas City is an annual celebration of the ascension of Jesus Christ. Our vision is that, beginning in 2025, the Saturday preceding Ascension Sunday we will celebrate by meeting as one body of believers in Kansas City. We will worship God together, hear a message regarding the significance of the ascension, sing a parade of praises through the streets, and end by hearing a charge and exhortation to continue our part in the Great Commission.
